The two-fold purpose of this letter is to express gratitude and provide a summary of results from the Back2School/Connecting our community event that was held at Olive Grove Baptist Church last month. Because of your participation and support, people who work, worship, study, or reside in Norfolk received tangible and intangible benefits to increase awareness of resources and opportunities. Felt ad expressed needs were also met.
Participation
- We distributed 10,700 pounds of food provided by the Food Bank.
- Mercy Chefs distributed 400 prepared meals.
- Norfolk Fire and Police Departments provided static displays.
- ICUTS Barber Shop provided free haircuts for two hours.
- Prime Records gave away free studio time.
- The Vision Center, Oakwood Chapel, Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, and Olive Grove Baptist Church handed out book bags and school supplies to more than 200 children.
- $475 in cash donations came from four different donors.
