Most of know that the Pandemic has taken a significant emotional toll on teenagers. On Saturday, August 20, 2022, the Youth Ministry sponsored a mental health workshop, “My Feelings Matter”. Three professional presenters were available to provide services for children an education for adults. They included Fran Futrell from Your Mental Health Matters, Danielle McDowell, Resident in Counseling from Norfolk Community Services Board, and our very own Antuane McCoy, a Mental Health/Community Stabilization Clinician of Compass Youth & Family Services.
To make the most of this opportunity our plan is to host quarterly events. Each quarterly workshop will have a break-out sessions for adults and teens with a different focus and different presenters. In a related matter the Norfolk Community Services Board is willing to provide 3-hour and 6-hour free training on Youth/Adult Mental Health First Aid & Adverse Childhood Experiences Trainings.
